A Right Royal Dog’s Dinner.

Chicken, Sweet Potatoes and green peas sounds lovely. I love making home made Dog food with human food for Teddy and Pelle and I have to say, they love it with a capital L. However, if you think its easy you should think again, there’s actually alot to take into consideration before you start.

I have made Chicken, Sweet Potatoes and green pea’s for the dog’s today minus of course, the gravy and onions.

If you do decide to “go it alone” then you must do your research first. Its not a matter of throwing everything in the pot and dishing up the end results.

The meals you are planning for you dog must have adequate nutrients, vitamins and minerals required for their health. Are they allergic to certain foods? will their stomach react on certain food? so all in all, not easy..

I asked my Vet about making food from scratch for my Dog’s and I can quite honestly say, they were not over thrilled with the idea but, I really didn’t know if that was because they genuinely disagreed with it or, if it was because their shelves where stocked with Dry and canned Dog food.

The dish I’ve made today was researched before hand. I found that Sweet Potatoes are safe for dog’s and can provide them with a range of health benefits ( and they like the sweet flavour) they are great for the digestive system because they are high in dietary fibre, low in fat and contain Vitamin B6, C.

Green Peas are a healthy treat and are high in Vitamin A, K, and various B. Good source of Fibre, iron, zinc, potassium and magnesium but don’t serve often or to many.

Chicken. All pure and better with breast. Its great if your dog requires extra protein in his diet. Cooked, unseasoned chicken is an easy addition to his regular food and I like to slow cook it in a little water.

Please remember. Every dog is different and I use many different sites for information so, DONT do what I say, YOU MUST DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH FOR YOUR OWN DOG. Your Pet, Your responsibility.

I will let you know how today’s dish goes down with either, A Paws UP or A Paws DOWN.
