Tick, Tick goes the Tick.

Continuing on my theme today I looked at Ticks. Ticks are parasites that feed on blood of humans and animals in order to survive. They are called Vectors (carriers) because they can feed on lymph-infected animals (such as mouse) then carry and transmit this to the next animal or person they bite.

In humans they attach to the feet which become red and irritated.

How do you know your Dog might a Tick or several?

When you come back from a walk run your hands over their body to check for lumps and bumps. A tick will feel like a small lump on your Dogs skin. Ticks tend to attach themselves to area’s around the Dogs head, neck and ears or around their feet. Brushing can help to remove them.

If you do have to remove an embedded tick, after removal place the tick in a glass of Alcohol and then put it in a safe place and place a lid on tight. Clean the wound with a disinfectant and apply a small amount of antibiotic cream.
